How You'll Make an Impact We are seeking a motivated Mechanical Lab Intern to join our team at the Ashland Automotive Propulsion Laboratory. This internship offers hands-on experience in a dynamic automotive testing environment focused on internal combustion engines, powertrain components, and vehicle-level testing. Responsibilities Include Assist technicians and engineers with maintenance, repairs, and system installations Help design and set up testing components and mechanical assemblies Support setup, calibration, and troubleshooting of instrumentation and data acquisition systems Participate in hands-on problem-solving and diagnostics across test environments Maintain accurate documentation including maintenance logs, test data, and technical observations Provide general technical support as needed within the lab Follow all safety protocols and company procedures in a lab/testing setting What You'll Need High school diploma or equivalent required; currently pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Technology, or a related field preferred Basic knowledge of mechanical systems and tools Familiarity with measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, etc.) Experience or interest in 3D CAD modeling, 3D printing, or data acquisition systems is a plus Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and general computer use Strong communication skills (verbal and written) Ability to work both independently and in a team-oriented environment Solid problem-solving and analytical thinking skills Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds, walk, climb, and stand for extended periods ""
