We are building a flight-critical, custom avionics system supporting compute, AI, power, communications, telemetry, and mission systems.</p>\n<p>This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a structured lab setting , assembling, soldering, wiring, organizing, troubleshooting, and ensuring engineers have everything they need to move quickly. You will work side-by-side with electrical, mechanical, and software engineers to build, support, and maintain prototype avionics hardware in a fast-paced R&amp;D environment.</p>\n<p><strong>Responsibilities:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Support lab setup, layout, organization, and ongoing infrastructure improvements</li>\n<li>Manage equipment procurement, part ordering, and inventory for the avionics lab</li>\n<li>Maintain calibration, traceability, and documentation for lab equipment</li>\n<li>Assemble, modify, and deploy prototype PCBAs and avionics modules</li>\n<li>Perform moderate PCB rework and fine-pitch soldering under microscope</li>\n<li>Rework and modify boards to support engineering iteration</li>\n<li>Build and modify wire harnesses and cable assemblies as needed</li>\n<li>Support environmental testing (temperature, vibration, altitude, humidity) including instrumentation and setup</li>\n<li>Operate oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies, logic analyzers, and environmental chambers</li>\n<li>Maintain detailed documentation of builds, lab procedures, and hardware modifications</li>\n<li>Assist engineers in debugging and validating hardware in a structured, repeatable manner</li>\n<li>Help establish and maintain lab best practices, organization standards, and safe operating procedures</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Qualifications:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n<li>2+ years of hands-on experience in an electrical hardware development or R&amp;D lab</li>\n<li>Strong ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and layouts</li>\n<li>Experience operating lab equipment (oscilloscopes, DMMs, power supplies, environmental chambers, etc.)</li>\n<li>Experience with PCB rework and component-level soldering</li>\n<li>Comfortable disassembling and reassembling electronic assemblies</li>\n<li>Experience working within a PLM system (Arena, Agile, or equivalent)</li>\n<li>Strong organizational skills and attention to detail</li>\n<li>Ability to work independently and support multiple engineers simultaneously</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Preferred Qualifications:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Experience building and modifying wire harnesses and cable assemblies</li>\n<li>Familiarity with PCB layout tools such as Altium (or similar)</li>\n<li>Experience maintaining lab inventory and calibration systems</li>\n<li>Familiarity with avionics, UAVs, or aerospace hardware</li>\n<li>Comfort using mechanical shop tools and basic fabrication equipment</li>\n<li>Experience supporting prototype manufacturing environments</li>\n</ul>\n<p>$28 - $42 an hour</p>\n<p style=\"margin-top:24px;font-size:13px;color:#666;\">XML job scraping automation by <a href=\"https://yubhub.co\">YubHub</a></p>","url":"https://yubhub.co/jobs/job_f07444d1-ec1","directApply":true,"hiringOrganization":{"@type":"Organization","name":"Shield AI","sameAs":"https://www.shield.ai","logo":"https://logos.yubhub.co/shield.ai.png"},"x-apply-url":"https://jobs.lever.co/shieldai/9b2b2e07-f23f-49c8-882d-a1adffe53bb1","x-work-arrangement":"onsite","x-experience-level":"senior","x-job-type":"full-time","x-salary-range":"$28 - $42 an hour","x-skills-required":["electrical hardware development","R&D lab","lab equipment","PCB rework","component-level soldering","PLM system","organizational skills","attention to detail"],"x-skills-preferred":["wire harnesses","cable assemblies","PCB layout tools","lab inventory","calibration systems","avionics","UAVs","aerospace hardware","mechanical shop tools","fabrication equipment"],"datePosted":"2026-04-17T13:05:16.841Z","jobLocation":{"@type":"Place","address":{"@type":"PostalAddress","addressLocality":"Dallas"}},"employmentType":"FULL_TIME","occupationalCategory":"Engineering","industry":"Technology","skills":"electrical hardware development, R&D lab, lab equipment, PCB rework, component-level soldering, PLM system, organizational skills, attention to detail, wire harnesses, cable assemblies, PCB layout tools, lab inventory, calibration systems, avionics, UAVs, aerospace hardware, mechanical shop tools, fabrication equipment"}]}
