In this role, you'll collaborate closely with a team of product designers and cross-functional partners to craft the Foundations experiences of today and tomorrow. You'll lead product designers working on the end-to-end design of new features and improvements across enterprise and consumer mission critical experiences. You'll help chart our course into the future as we evolve our technology, product, and design paradigms.

This role is based in our San Francisco HQ. We offer relocation assistance to new employees.

In this role, you will:

• Lead design and help shape product direction across OpenAI's Foundational Systems across consumer and enterprise on Payments, Identity & Access, and the developer/research tools that power our ecosystem

• Set a high bar for design quality, delivering clear, cohesive experiences that build trust

• Manage and grow a team of product designers, fostering a strong culture of craft, ownership, and performance

• Drive consistency and alignment across complex, interconnected systems

• Identify and prioritize shared capabilities to unlock scale across the OpenAI ecosystem

• Partner closely with engineering, product, and research to shape both long-term strategy and near-term execution

• Use research and insights to deeply understand users and continuously improve the product

• Are comfortable operating across multiple altitudes- from defining design details to shaping system architecture and long-term strategy

• Have experience working on technical, highly cross-functional products, partnering closely with engineering, product, and infrastructure teams. In general, you are excited about building collaborative relationships with many partners!

• Are a systems thinker, able to bring clarity and cohesion across fragmented surfaces and evolve them into unified, scalable experiences.

• Are excited by ambiguous, high-leverage problems and can turn complexity into clear, actionable direction

• Possess excellent communication and storytelling skills, and can align teams around a shared vision

In your role, you'll:

• Elevate our craft: Foster a culture of high craft, thoughtful critique, and user empathy, maintaining a high bar for product thinking, interaction, and visual design.

• Drive design strategy: Partner with Product and Engineering leaders to define product direction, translate ambiguous problems into clear design opportunities, and deliver cohesive experiences.

• AI experience guidance: Guide designers in ensuring AI features are transparent, trustworthy, and explainable, leveraging best-in-class design patterns for the dynamically evolving AI space.

• User advocacy: Guide the team to translate complex legal workflows and technical constraints into seamless user experiences, serving as the advocate for the user in high-stakes technical discussions.

• Strategic impact: Make strategic design decisions that align with and deliver impact on Everlaw's goals.

• Guide team excellence: Manage, coach, and grow a team of product designers, supporting career development through clear feedback, mentorship, and personalized growth plans.

• Set clear expectations: Create clarity around expectations, roles, and impact, helping designers understand how their work connects to the broader company vision.

• Scale the team: Participate in hiring and refining our design operations.

• Reinforce accountability: Ensure strong performance and behavioral alignment across the team.

About you:

• At least 5 years of product design experience, with at least 2 years of experience managing teams.

• BA/BS degree in graphic design, design communication, human-computer interaction, or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.

• A strong track record of shipping complex, high-impact products in collaboration with Product and Engineering.

• Experience designing for sophisticated users and workflows (e.g., enterprise, B2B SaaS, data-heavy, or regulated domains).

• Process-driven and can communicate complex concepts to drive the team towards a shared vision.

• Strong product thinking, interaction, and visual design chops.

• Excellent communication skills to influence, align, and inspire across functions.

• Comfort working in ambiguity and helping teams navigate it with clarity and purpose.

Work authorization:

• You are authorized to work in the United States without restrictions.
