<p>In this position, you will be working with suppliers to develop, design, and release EPAS mechanical design changes for in-flight programs. You will be responsible for managing material cost reduction design changes with suppliers and tracking status progression and execution with internal teams. You will also work with suppliers to obtain quotes, timelines for design changes on current model programs and track change requests, quotes, documentation in JIRA database.</p>
<p>Responsibilities:</p>
<ul>
<li>Work with suppliers to develop, design, and release EPAS mechanical design changes for in-flight programs (gear, assist mechanism).</li>
<li>Responsible for management of material cost reduction design changes with supplier and tracking status progression and execution with internal teams.</li>
<li>Work with suppliers to obtain quotes, timelines for design changes on current model programs. Track change requests, quotes, documentation in JIRA database.</li>
<li>Work with supplier and cost estimating teams to obtain needed cost breakdowns for engineering changes.</li>
<li>Get approval of tool orders, long lead funding, and ED&amp;T.</li>
<li>Communicate with Suppliers, Vehicle Dynamics, Vehicle Program Management, CAD designers, release analysts, etc., to get changes processed.</li>
<li>Problem-solve design, manufacturing, and quality issues.</li>
<li>Responsible for failure mode avoidance documentation (boundary diagrams, P-diagrams, DFMEA’s, etc.).</li>
<li>Sign-off drawings, DVP’s, PVP’s, DVP&amp;R’s, PVP&amp;R’s.</li>
<li>Issue engineering sample orders for team and track department material budget status.</li>
<li>Track program part orders and provide transparency to the supplier.</li>
<li>Support forward model program management by tracking requirements due at each milestone.</li>
</ul>
<p>Qualifications:</p>
<ul>
<li>Bachelor&#39;s degree in engineering.</li>
<li>2+ years of steering systems experience in an automotive domain or similar industry.</li>
<li>1 year of CAD experience.</li>
<li>Even better, you may have:</li>
<li>Master&#39;s degree in engineering.</li>
<li>Strong leadership skills – inherent self-starter, self-motivated and strong drive for results.</li>
<li>Problem solving skills.</li>
<li>Strong Project management skills.</li>
<li>Strong oral/written communication skills.</li>
<li>Failure mode avoidance skills.</li>
<li>At least two years of automotive-related experiences.</li>
<li>Ability to travel and support Ford Motor Company final assembly plants and component supplier plants when required.</li>
