This is a great way to start your career in the industry as well as gaining a qualification. The course is Engineering Operative Level 2. You would be contracted to work Monday to Friday 8:00am to 4:30pm. The apprenticeship training provider will come on site every couple of weeks to provide the theory side of your course. The duration of the apprenticeship is between 18 and 24 months.

Paint Apprenticeship - Job Description

Learning to paint as part of the manufacturing process ensuring required standards of quality are met. This role is part of an apprenticeship scheme which will lead to a qualification or company standard approval process. You will learn to work to strict safety and quality requirements, help to achieve daily production requirements in terms of quality and quantity, optimising efficiency and maintaining operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

• Ensuring you are using the correct material and tools.
• Ensuring finished parts do not have defects before shipping forward.
• Adhere to all requirements for hazardous and non-hazardous waste disposal.
• Follow work instructions.
• Understanding the paint processes required to achieve a high paint standard.
• Quality checks on completion.
• Production of high-quality parts within set time periods.
• Meeting the customer requirements.
• Adherence to PPE requirements - Maintaining a clean and tidy working environment

Skills you will learn:

• How to spray paint and troubleshoot problems
• Flatting, polishing and rectification of painted parts.
• Preparation of raw parts for primer
• Preparation of primer for topcoat
• Confidence in using all the necessary tools and equipment to achieve a finished painted part.
• Removing any imperfections from the paint finish.
• Carbon fibre prepping for visual and coloured finish.
• Able to remove shape issues from a panel to give a flat surface.
• Able to use filler for pinholes and voids.
• Masking and cleaning for spraying

Key Responsibilities: Operate the waste handling machinery and equipment on board, always following all associated policies and procedures. Assist with the garbage receiving and sorting process as directed. Support the Waste Disposal Supervisor with the garbage landing operation.

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise: The successful candidate will have at least 12 months experience working as a waste disposal operator or similar industrial role, or have received industry-standard training in waste disposal operations/waste management. They will be capable of supporting the Waste Disposal Supervisor in the safe and cost-effective maintenance of waste handling machinery and equipment. Maintain strict adherence to safety, cleanliness, and tidiness when performing equipment maintenance. Work with the reporting officer and the Senior Technical Storekeeper to ensure sufficient stocks of spare parts are maintained onboard at all times. Provide accurate work history and parts/materials consumed data for input into Amos.
