In this position, you will join the Test Technology Team as a product environmental engineer. Your primary responsibilities will include working with Ford Global Laboratories to ensure robust emissions/fuel economy measurement strategies are in place for developing and certifying various products. This includes gasoline, diesel, and electrified products.
\nYour key duties will involve conducting onsite emissions laboratory assessments and sign-offs of Ford and contract facilities to ensure conformance to corporate guidelines and regulatory requirements. You will also provide ongoing support to vehicle programs and laboratory personnel with respect to regulatory interpretations, measurement analysis, and laboratory assessments.
\nAdditionally, you will review and interpret new regulations for emissions and fuel economy testing, providing direction to laboratories to ensure compliance with new regulations. You will participate in government/industry forums to collaborate on best practices and run special test programs.
\nYou will carry out test programs to evaluate new measurement equipment and/or vehicle technologies, generating assessment and sign-off reports documenting laboratory status. You will develop test procedures and local assessment procedures based on regulations and Ford best practices.
\nTo succeed in this role, you will need a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical Engineering, or equivalent experience. You should have effective oral and written communication skills, strong interpersonal, negotiation, and persuasion skills, and the ability to interact effectively with senior management and regulatory contacts.
\nExperience with emissions laboratory equipment or emissions test procedures/regulations (light duty or heavy duty) is desired, as well as knowledge of vehicle powertrain components and basic understanding of vehicle electrification. Experience applying statistical methods is also desired.
