\nIn this role, you will guide multidisciplinary teams to design, build, and deploy high-performance autonomy solutions,from algorithm development to system integration and field testing. Working at the intersection of robotics, aerospace, and software engineering, you’ll drive mission-critical capabilities from concept to flight, delivering resilient, scalable systems that perform in dynamic and contested conditions.
\nResponsibilities:
\nLead teams across autonomy, integration, and testing by aligning technical efforts, resolving cross-functional challenges, and driving mission-focused execution. Balance hands-on technical oversight with performance optimization, innovation, and clear stakeholder communication.
\nDesign tactical autonomy algorithms to enable unmanned aircraft to perform complex missions across air, land, and sea domains with minimal human supervision.
\nDevelop high-performance software modules that incorporate planning, decision-making, and behavior execution strategies for dynamic and adversarial environments.
\nImplement and test behavior architectures that enable multi-agent coordination, target engagement, reconnaissance, and survivability in contested scenarios.
\nCollaborate with cross-functional teams including perception, planning, simulation, hardware, and flight test to ensure seamless integration of autonomy solutions on real-world platforms.
\nDeploy autonomy capabilities to real platforms and participate in field tests and flight demos, validating performance in operationally relevant conditions.
\nRequired qualifications:
\nA tertiary level qualification in Computer Science, Mechatronics, Software Engineering, Robotics or a related field
\nSignificant professional experience in robotics, autonomy, perception or aerospace systems
\nStrong experience in modern C++
\nExperience leading teams to delivery engineering projects
\nSignificant experience in building and delivering reliable software systems, ideally in fast-paced environments
\nPreferred qualifications:
\nPrior experience with uncrewed systems, especially in the air domain
\nDefence industry experience
\nSignificant experience in one or more of the following domains:

\nReal-Time & Distributed Simulation – Develop, optimize, and deploy software for real-time mission execution environments, including multi-agent scenarios and high-fidelity system-of-systems simulations.
\nSimulation Framework Integration – Apply practical experience with defence simulation frameworks such as AFSIM or NGTS to accelerate capability delivery and ensure alignment with defence customer expectations.
\nContainerized Deployment – Leverage Docker, Kubernetes or similar technologies to ensure repeatable, scalable, and modular simulation deployments across development, CI, and operational environments.
\nTechnical & Project Leadership – Lead engineering teams of 5+ contributors, ensuring alignment across software, test, autonomy, perception, and program stakeholders. Drive quality, delivery, and technical excellence.
\nCollaboration & Delivery – Work closely with cross-functional teams to integrate simulation with autonomy algorithms, hardware interfaces, and test pipelines, enabling rapid experimentation, regression testing, and mission readiness.
\nInnovation & Continuous Improvement – Champion best practices in CI/CD, test-driven development, design patterns, and system architecture. Explore and adopt modern technologies to expand modelling and simulation capabilities.
