About the Team

The Stripe Issuing team enables users to build and launch successful card programs and financial features into their product using powerful programmatic APIs. The team creates the infrastructure, user-facing experiences, and partner integrations needed to manage the lifecycle of a card and enable efficient money movement.

What You’ll Do

As an Engineering Manager on this team, you'll lead engineers who operate at the critical intersection of high-availability distributed systems and financial infrastructure , where uptime is measured to four nines, authorization decisions must happen in seconds, and every request directly impacts the businesses and cardholders who depend on Stripe every day.

As the Engineering Lead for Europe, you will manage a team of 9+ engineers directly while serving as a member of the small leadership team and working closely with your cross-functional peers. • Work across teams to shape the roadmap, spot high-leverage opportunities, and make clear tradeoffs between speed, risk, and long-term investments.
• Go deep on technical design when needed, unblocking complex problems and maintaining a high bar for quality and reliability in production.
• Represent engineering in leadership discussions, helping guide business decisions and align European priorities with broader company strategy.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of industry experience, that includes time as a Staff-level engineer before transitioning into management.
• 2-3+ years of engineering management experience.
• Track record of building and growing strong engineering teams through coaching, clear goal-setting, and raising the talent bar.
• Experience owning a production product area and partnering closely with Product and business stakeholders to drive outcomes.
• Experience designing and evolving scalable, reliable systems that support real-world products at scale.
• Strong technical judgment, with the ability to dive deep into architecture and unblock complex cross-team problems.

The base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
