The ideal candidate has experience supporting construction projects, managing contractor sourcing, coordinating bids, and working cross-functionally with engineers, and project teams to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.

This role will play a key part in supporting new facility development and expansion projects as Shield AI continues to scale.

Responsibilities:

• Lead sourcing and procurement activities for construction and facility expansion projects, including contractor selection, bid management, and vendor negotiations.

• Partner with Facilities, Engineering, and Operations teams to support the development and build-out of new manufacturing and engineering facilities.

• Manage RFPs/RFQs for construction vendors, general contractors, and specialty subcontractors, evaluating proposals based on cost, capability, and schedule.

• Negotiate pricing, contracts, and project terms with construction suppliers and service providers.

• Coordinate with site selection partners, project managers, and internal stakeholders to ensure procurement activities align with project timelines.

• Manage purchase orders, contracts, and supplier performance within the company's ERP system (Deltek Costpoint).

• Track project procurement milestones, delivery schedules, and contractor performance to support successful project execution.

• Support the development of standard procurement processes for construction and capital project sourcing.

• Ensure vendor compliance with company policies and procurement standards.

Requirements:

• 3–7 years of experience in procurement, sourcing, or supply chain, with exposure to construction, facilities, or capital project procurement.

• Experience sourcing or managing suppliers for construction projects, facility expansions, or infrastructure development.

• Familiarity with general contractors, subcontractors, and construction bid processes (RFP/RFQ).

• Strong negotiation skills with the ability to manage supplier pricing, contracts, and project terms.

• Excellent organizational and project coordination skills.

• Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across engineering, operations, and project teams.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and procurement systems or ERP platforms.

Preferences:

• Experience supporting manufacturing facility construction, plant expansions, or engineering lab build-outs.

• Background working with general contractors, or construction project teams.

• Experience sourcing capital equipment, tooling, or facility infrastructure.

• Experience working in aerospace, defense, manufacturing, or high-tech environments.

The successful candidate will own classification society compliance, maintenance execution, and commercial vendor relationships for Saronic's growing fleet of autonomous surface vehicles (+150 ft), initially supporting 2 to 5 hulls.

Responsibilities:

• Classification & Survey Management
  • Own all ABS interactions: annual, intermediate, special, and drydock surveys; condition assessments; and class certificate maintenance
  • Manage drydocking operations end-to-end , facility selection, docking plans, hull inspections, survey coordination, and undocking sign-off
  • Develop external relationships to steer industry regulatory parties such as USCG
• Commercial Shipyard & Vendor Relations
  • Build and manage Saronic's commercial repair yard and ship husbandry vendor network across key domestic and forward operating regions
  • Negotiate and administer commercial repair contracts and MSAs with private-sector shipyards and specialty subcontractors
  • Serve as primary technical point of contact with repair facilities; attend dock and sea trials on behalf of Saronic
• Technical Oversight
  • Develop repair specifications, work packages, and acceptance criteria grounded in ABS Rules and commercial practice
  • Conduct vessel condition surveys and pre-docking assessments; provide findings and recommendations to steer our MRO organisational processes
  • Establish a commercial-standard Planned Maintenance System (PMS) suited to Saronic's ASV fleet
• Team & Program Support
  • Partner with internally to integrate MRO execution with Saronic's customer-facing teams to drive strategy, budget planning, and fleet readiness reporting
  • Mentor staff on commercial survey processes, ABS documentation, and yard QA

Qualifications:

• 5+ years of hands-on commercial maritime MRO experience - technical superintendent, owner's representative, or equivalent - with direct ABS survey and drydocking responsibility (not solely Oil & Gas specific or Navy/government program management)
• Working knowledge of ABS rules and survey process (annual, intermediate, special, drydock); ability to prepare vessels for class
• Hands-on technical competence: hull structure, propulsion, electrical, auxiliary machinery, HVAC
• Commercial repair contract and MSA negotiation - private-sector, not FAR/DFARS
• Willingness to travel regularly to shipyards and work in industrial/outdoor environments

Preferred:

• Bachelor's in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience
• STCW Chief Engineer Officer certification or seagoing engineering officer background
• Experience with additional classification societies beyond ABS
• Familiarity with commercial CMMS platforms (AMOS, HELM, ShipManager, Maximo, or equivalent)
• Exposure to autonomous or unmanned surface vehicles, or high-performance commercial craft

Physical Demands:

• Ability to certify as 'fit for work' by demonstrating ability to swim and tread water
• Frequently and repetitively, lift, push and carry up to 75 lbs.
• Will be exposed to marine environments, including sun, wind, rain, cold, and saltwater spray, often for extended periods
• Must be able to operate in daylight, low-light, and night conditions using marine navigation systems and visual cues
• Ability to perform physically demanding work for extended periods of time, up to 12 hours/day
• The ability to carry 20 lbs. up and down stairs
