Underlying all deployments - whether it be aircraft or ground systems, Anduril products or those integrated, combat zones or close to home - is a diverse array of networking infrastructure connecting assets to one another and their operators. Data link topologies traverse infinite permutations of medium including fiber, MANET, military SATCOM, commercial LEO satellite internet, microwave backhaul, and commercial and private 3G/4G/5G cell networks.

The Connectivity team is responsible for performing technical due diligence with customers (both internal and external) to ensure that the correct network architecture is selected for a given mission, assisting with sourcing of the appropriate hardware and subsequent implementation, and supporting the sustainment of production data links using their subject matter expertise.

Key responsibilities include:

• Working with Anduril's customers and their networking engineers to architect connectivity solutions
• Calculating RF link budgets, assessing risk of lost links and commensurate fallback solutions, and presenting such findings to operations and engineering teams
• Designing and maintaining complex network laydowns for ground-based air defense systems, force protection sensor suites, UAVs, and space systems
• Sourcing, evaluating, and maintaining networking equipment and services
• Overseeing network implementation and execution during demonstration events and production site bring-ups

Required qualifications include:

• 2+ years of experience in RF or network engineering with understanding of Layer 3 network design
• Experience with externally-facing technical communication
• Ability to travel up to 15% of the time
• Eligible to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret security clearance

Preferred qualifications include:

• Strong aptitude for problem solving in unstructured situations at the interface of hardware, software, and networking. Ability to drive challenging and vague technical problems to clarity and resolution
• Naturally inquisitive, able to independently research and learn new technical components or concepts
• Experience generating link budgets
• Familiarity with DoD-managed network enclaves (NIPR, SIPR, etc.)
• Experience with mesh networking and/or MANETs
• Familiarity with NSA Type 1 encryption or FIPS compliance
• Experience in InfoSec or computer security

US Salary Range: $113,000-$149,000 USD

The Spacecraft Comms team will work closely with related teams, such as the spacecraft design, ground, and flight software, to help improve both the ground and satellite-based capabilities. Your primary responsibility will be the successful design, test, and operations of the various communications links onboard Anduril's fleet of spacecraft.

This role is directly tied to ongoing, funded programs within Anduril's Space Business Line. The programs require building and fielding a resilient, software-defined spacecraft systems across numerous mission threads. You will work with mission partners and customers to deploy reliable and robust capabilities on operationally-relevant fielding timelines to meet complex challenges across the DOD and IC.

Key responsibilities include:

• Contributing to the spacecraft communications subsystems for various spacecraft programs in all orbital regimes

• Owning space-to-ground and space-to-space ICDs and designs for communication subsystems

• Supporting challenging schedules during ground testing, launch windows, and on-orbit operations of the spacecraft systems

Required qualifications include:

• Strong engineering background from industry or school, ideally in areas/fields such as Electrical Engineering, RF Engineering, Computer Science, or other engineering degree
• Experience conducting spacecraft operations and satellite command and control with an emphasis on system reliability and uptime
• Flexible and agile problem-solving skills
• Working knowledge of and experience with MATLAB
• Ability to quickly understand and navigate complex systems and detailed requirements
• Experience with RF subsystem design for space-space and space-ground in multiple orbital regimes
• Experience with optical inter-satellite and optical space-ground systems
• Capable of solving complex technical problems with little oversight
• Clear communication and organizational skills, including creating documentation and training materials
• Currently possesses and is able to maintain an active U.S. Top Secret security clearance

Preferred qualifications include:

• Experience with Python, Go, C++, and/or Linux systems
• A desire to work on critical software and hardware designs in the space domain
• Experience testing comms subsystems in laboratory environments that mimic the space environmental constraints
• Experience with testing/validation leveraging FlatSats, Hardware-in-the-Loop testbeds, and digital spacecraft simulators through nominal and fault scenarios
• Exposure to ground station operations and providers
• Exposure to US satellite operations policy and constraints for relevant mission threads in all orbits
