The Analytics Engineering team builds and maintains trusted data infrastructure across the organisation. This role focuses on building reliable, well-governed data foundations for compliance and regulatory reporting across Coinbase's international entities.

As Coinbase's international presence grows, so does the volume and complexity of regulatory data requirements. Your mission is to build a platform: a reliable, automated, self-serve data foundation for regulatory reporting.

You will start by developing deep expertise in the regulatory data landscape, then progressively build data models, automate recurring workflows, and enable compliance stakeholders to answer regulatory questions independently with confidence and accuracy.

The goal is to transition from reactive, manual reporting toward a scalable platform that minimises manual data pulls work over time.

We are actively evolving toward an AI-agent-driven data stack where humans write specs, AI generates data models, and agents handle analytics on clean data domains.

You will be an early builder of this operating model within the regulatory reporting domain.

What We Do:

• Build and maintain the Regulatory Data Mart as the single source of truth for regulatory reporting across Coinbase's international entities, handling the nuances of multi-entity, multi-jurisdiction reporting

• Enable compliance stakeholders to self-serve regulatory data needs rather than depending on ad-hoc data pulls

• Build AI-driven workflows that automate regulatory reporting while maintaining the highest accuracy standards

• Ensure Coinbase meets regulatory reporting SLAs and stays compliant across international markets

• Own end-to-end data quality through data contracts, validation checks, and monitoring

What you’ll be doing (ie. job duties):

• Design and build data models that serve as the foundation for regulatory reporting, with the entity-level granularity and definitions regulators require

• Build and maintain data quality checks, monitoring, and data contracts; implement reconciliation against prior submissions

• Write specs and definitions that AI tools use to generate pipelines and answer regulatory questions accurately

• Standardize regulatory metric definitions, entity-specific nuances, and historical reporting decisions into durable, machine-readable formats

• Partner with Compliance, Legal, and Business Operations to translate regulatory requirements into data models, and with upstream Engineering to ensure accurate, well-contracted source data

• Shift progressively from handling regulatory data requests toward building automated, self-serve solutions that reduce manual effort over time

• Maintain clear, structured documentation of business logic optimised for AI agent consumption, so agents can reliably trace and query regulatory data end-to-end

The Senior Regulatory and Legislative Compliance Engineer is responsible for providing internal expertise and support on current and future US Federal and State motor vehicle and motor vehicle equipment regulations. The Senior Engineer will serve as a subject matter expert within PCNA and to be a resource to the PAG ET organisation. The Senior Engineer will help ensure the comprehensive awareness and understanding of complex technical regulations required to successfully certify Porsche models as salable in the US.

The Senior Engineer, under supervision of the PCNA Regulatory and Legislative Compliance Manager, must help represent the technical and policy interests of PCNA and PAG to US authorities in support of the development of future US regulations affecting motor vehicles and motor vehicle equipment. The Senior Engineer must coordinate with PCNA and PAG teams to ensure early awareness of evolving future requirements. The Senior Engineer must also work creatively to propose and negotiate alternative regulatory outcomes with government agencies that can best align with Porsche strategy and business objectives.

The Senior Engineer will also serve as a regional regulatory subject matter expert and provide PCNA and PAG technical teams with comprehensive analysis and interpretive support for complex technical regulations. The Senior Engineer must research the background on regulatory requirements, propose interpretations, and coordinate outreach to government agencies as needed.

Roles & responsibilities

Primary responsibilities:

• Proactively participate in relevant working groups within the automotive trade association and provide direct feedback to PCNA and PAG ET teams.
• Serves as a subject matter expert for highly sensitive Federal and State governmental motor vehicle and motor vehicle equipment regulations.
• Support the development and negotiation of proposals to help inform future regulations, contribute to the development of technical comments and other briefings.
• Produce, evaluate, and present key strategic regulatory summaries and options to PCNA and PAG leadership related to fleet safety and emissions compliance with significant impact on current and future US Market operations.
• Communicate and coordinate with PAG and Group entity regulatory teams and other supporting functions including legal, certification, and development teams to assess the impact of regulations.
• Support the analysis, presentation, and interpretation of regulations, including future compliance projections used for strategic planning.
• Coordinates to ensure cross-functional support of ongoing topics related to vehicle certification, emissions & safety defect reporting, recalls & campaigns, in-use emissions monitoring, and other various technical projects.
• Collaborates with internal Business Units; Marketing, Finance, Vehicle Logistics, Customs, Sales Operations, Corporate Quality, Corporate Compliance, Legal, and other stakeholders to ensure the seamless phase-in of new products and new compliance processes.
• Supports high-level interaction and negotiation with governmental staff regarding sensitive compliance options, projections and strategic decisions. This includes regulatory reviews, discussions of future product plans/business decisions, and Group projections for future regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering (MSME) from an ABET-accredited engineering university preferred.

Experience:

• 8+ years of work experience within an automotive service or engineering function.
• 5+ years working in Regulatory Affairs and Environmental Engineering Operations.
• 2+ years working in Engineering R&D on resolution of complex issues.

Skills:

• Experience with safety and state level regulations
• Experience with emission and environmental regulations
• Experience with fuels and alternative powertrains
