As a Product Development Engineer - Powertrain Calibration, you will be responsible for calibration and development of leading edge aftertreatment technologies for PM, NOx, HC, and CO reduction for gasoline powertrains to meet global emissions and OBD requirements.

Key responsibilities include:

• Evaluating and assessing vehicle attributes (performance, fuel economy, emissions, diagnostics, NVH) on vehicles and engine dynamometer test cells
• Modifying powertrain control calibrations to improve fuel economy, performance, emissions, and diagnostics
• Designing and conducting tests to validate engine and vehicle fuel economy, performance, emissions, and diagnostics
• Conducting vehicle testing and development at remote locations in Arizona, Colorado, and Northern Canada

Qualifications include:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
• 2+ years of experience in Powertrain Calibration
• 1+ years’ experience with one more of the following software tools: ETAS, ATI, or MATLAB

• Leading the team in the hands-on commissioning of prototype systems on dynamometers and in development vehicles, including troubleshooting complex mechanical, electrical, and CAN communication issues.

To succeed in this role, you'll need a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related Systems Engineering field, along with 10+ years of experience in propulsion systems, emissions aftertreatment, or powertrain calibration. A Master's degree or PhD in Engineering with a focus on Emissions, Controls, or Propulsion is also desirable.

• Experience of electrification, e.g. hybrid calibration, battery and fuel cell technology, and an appreciation of future industry trends
• Experience in powertrain thermal management
• Experience of functional safety function definition and calibration
• Engine test cell operation, DoE test design and data capture
• Appreciation/experience of powertrain simulation techniques (e.g. Matlab, Simulink, AVL CRUISE™ M) across virtual development, verification, and validation techniques
• Excellent understanding of gasoline and diesel internal combustion engine performance and fundamentals, including modern Exhaust Aftertreatment Systems, and future industry trends
