Software Engineer, Desktop

We're looking for desktop app engineers to join our Claude product team and help build native applications that harness the transformative power of advanced language models.

Your mission will be to package our AI capabilities into elegant desktop experiences that put unprecedented capabilities at users' fingertips. You will work with a talented team of engineers, researchers, and product specialists to design and implement key components that bridge our AI technology with intuitive user interfaces.

Join us in this exciting mission to transform how people engage with our AI technology and unlock new realms of human potential.

Today, our app is mostly web-based – but we’re eager to build the best possible version of Claude for macOS and Windows with a mix of both native and web technologies.

You might be a great fit for this role if you’re up for the challenge of learning multiple programming languages. We are more interested in strong engineers excited to learn new languages and technologies to build the best possible experience than we are looking for people with hands-on experience in Chromium, Electron, C++, or the various native macOS and Windows APIs.

We believe that strong engineers can learn whatever technology is best suited to build the best possible experience – and we understand that even the best engineers will have little experience with one of the operating systems and areas we’d like to invest in.

We’re looking for curious engineers excited to figure out, with us, what AI on the desktop could do.

Responsibilities:

Develop and maintain the core infrastructure and features within Claude.ai and in our Electron-based desktop app using a typical web stack (TypeScript, React)

Use native code (Rust, Swift, C++) to bring advanced features to the desktop app, connecting Claude to macOS and Windows

Optimise application performance, memory usage, and startup time across platforms

Design and build robust update mechanisms and deployment pipelines

Create monitoring tools to track application performance and user experience

Build a strong intuition for how advanced LLMs could be most useful on your computer, augmenting humans in their work

You may be a good fit if you have:

Have 5+ years of experience as a software engineer, with strong emphasis on desktop application development

Have practical experience with Electron and deep understanding of its architecture

Possess strong JavaScript/TypeScript skills and experience with modern frontend frameworks

Take a product-focused approach and care about building solutions that are robust, scalable, and easy to use

Have experience with native module development in C++ to extend application capabilities

Understand macOS and/or Windows platform-specific technologies and development patterns

Have experience with cross-platform application packaging, code signing, and distribution

Thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and enjoy working closely with cross-functional teams

We’re working with a large number of technologies - and you might be an excellent candidate even if you’ve only worked with a subset of them. An ideal candidate may have never used Electron before but does have hands-on experience in working with Chromium’s C++. Similarly, a great candidate may have worked on Electron apps, but hasn’t used C++ or Swift before. We understand that even the best engineers will have more experience with some platforms than others.

Strong candidates may also have experience with:

Experience working on and building operating systems, browsers, or deeply OS-integrated software (screensharing, video-calling, game engines, etc)

Experience integrating and working with AI/ML models and understanding their capabilities

Demonstrated success implementing cross-platform development strategies

Vision for the future of AI-powered desktop applications and a drive to make that vision a reality

Have experience with IPC (Inter-Process Communication) and security in desktop applications

Deadline to apply: None. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis.

The annual compensation range for this role is listed below. For sales roles, the range provided is the role’s On Target Earnings (“OTE”) range, meaning that the range includes both the sales commissions/sales bonuses target and annual base salary for the role.

Annual Salary: $320,000-$405,000 USD

Strong engineering skills (Python, Go, or similar).

Ability to write clear findings that drive action, helping teams understand risk and prioritise fixes.

Collaborative approach, working in close collaboration with the blue team.

Strong candidates may also have experience with:

Prior work at organisations with state actor threat models.

Interest in AI safety and how security engineering contributes to responsible AI developments.

Background testing AI/ML systems or agentic workflows.

Familiarity with detection engineering and SIEM/EDR platforms from the defensive side.

Experience with data centre security or hardware-based attacks.

Logistics

Education requirements: We require at least a Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience.

Location-based hybrid policy: Currently, we expect all staff to be in one of our offices at least 25% of the time. However, some roles may require more time in our offices.

Visa sponsorship: We do sponsor visas! However, we aren't able to successfully sponsor visas for every role and every candidate. But if we make you an offer, we will make every reasonable effort to get you a visa, and we retain an immigration lawyer to help with this.

We encourage you to apply even if you do not believe you meet every single qualification. Not all strong candidates will meet every single qualification as listed. Research shows that people who identify as being from underrepresented groups are more prone to experiencing imposter syndrome and doubting the strength of their candidacy, so we urge you not to exclude yourself prematurely and to submit an application if you're interested in this work.

Your safety matters to us. To protect yourself from potential scams, remember that Anthropic recruiters only contact you from @anthropic.com email addresses. In some cases, we may partner with vetted recruiting agencies who will identify themselves as working on behalf of Anthropic. Be cautious of emails from other domains. Legitimate Anthropic recruiters will never ask for money, fees, or banking information before your first day. If you're ever unsure about a communication, don't click any links—visit anthropic.com/careers directly for confirmed position openings.

How we're different

We believe that the highest-impact AI research will be big science. At Anthropic we work as a single cohesive team on just a few large-scale research efforts. And we value impact — advancing our long-term goals of steerable, trustworthy AI — rather than work on smaller and more specific puzzles. We view AI research as an empirical science, which has as much in common with physics and biology as with traditional efforts in computer science. We're an extremely collaborative group, and we host frequent research discussions to ensure that we are pursuing the highest-impact work at any given time. As such, we greatly value communication skills.

The easiest way to understand our research directions is to read our recent research. This research continues many of the directions our team worked on prior to Anthropic, including: GPT-3, Circuit-Based Interpretability, Multimodal Neurons, Scaling Laws, AI & Compute, Concrete Problems in AI Safety, and Learning from Human Preferences.

Come work with us!

Anthropic is a public benefit corporation headquartered in San Francisco. We offer competitive compensation and benefits, optional relocation assistance, and a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, and vision insurance, 401(k) matching, and paid time off.

Security Engineer Lead, Corporate Security

About the Role:

We’re looking for a Security Engineering Lead to own and drive Anthropic’s Corporate Security programme. This is a player-coach Tech Lead Manager (TLM) role: you’ll be both the most senior technical individual contributor on corporate security and the people leader for a lean, high-impact team of Security Engineers.

Corporate Security at Anthropic encompasses everything that protects our people, endpoints, networks, SaaS ecosystem, and corporate data—the full surface area outside of production infrastructure. The scope is broad and the team is deliberately small, which means you’ll need deep technical skills across multiple domains, strong judgment about where to invest, and a bias toward automation and engineering-driven solutions over manual process.

You’ll report into Security leadership and partner closely with IT, Infrastructure Security, Detection & Response, and GRC teams. This role is high-visibility and high-autonomy: you’ll be expected to define the roadmap, make architectural decisions, and represent Corporate Security across the company.

Responsibilities:

Technical Leadership & Hands-on Engineering

Own the security architecture, tooling, and controls for Anthropic’s corporate environment end-to-end, including endpoint fleets (macOS, Windows, ChromeOS), campus and office networks, SaaS applications, mobile devices

Design, build, and ship security automation, integrations, and internal tooling—including leveraging Claude and LLMs to accelerate security workflows

Define and enforce security baselines, hardening standards, and configuration policies across all corporate platforms

Define what it means to operate safely in an environment where AI agents act more like humans than actual humans

Evaluate, select, deploy, and operate corporate security tools (EDR/XDR, MDM, ZTNA, CASB/SSPM, email security, DLP, browser security, etc.)

Drive vulnerability management for corporate assets, including patch orchestration, risk-based prioritization, and exception management

Lead security reviews of new SaaS adoptions, corporate infrastructure changes, and IT projects

People Leadership & Team Building

Manage, mentor, and grow a purposefully lean team of Security Engineers; set clear expectations, run effective 1:1s, and create an environment where engineers do the best work of their careers

Hire and build the team as scope expands—own the hiring bar and pipeline for Corporate Security Engineering roles

Balance your own IC contributions with the team’s needs; know when to go deep on a problem yourself and when to delegate and coach

Foster a culture of operational excellence, blameless incident review, and continuous improvement

Strategy & Cross-Functional Partnership

Define and own the Corporate Security roadmap, aligning investments to Anthropic’s risk profile and growth trajectory

Partner with IT Operations to ensure security is embedded in endpoint provisioning, network design, and SaaS lifecycle management

Collaborate with Detection & Response on telemetry coverage, detection engineering, and incident handling for corporate-sourced events

Partner with Infrastructure and Security Engineering teams to ensure security standards are consistent across all of Anthropic

Communicate security posture, risks, and investment needs to Security leadership and cross-functional stakeholders clearly and persuasively

You may be a good fit if you:

Have 8+ years of Security Engineering experience in a corporate/enterprise security domain (endpoint security, network security, SaaS security, identity, or a combination)

Have 2+ years of experience managing or tech-leading a team of engineers, with a demonstrated track record of developing talent and shipping results through others

Are a strong engineer who still writes code regularly—you can prototype a tool, write a detection, build an integration, or debug a complex configuration issue

Have deep experience with macOS fleet security (this is our primary platform) and solid working knowledge of Windows and ChromeOS security

Have hands-on experience deploying and operating EDR/XDR, MDM, ZTNA/zero trust, and identity security solutions at scale

Understand modern SaaS security challenges: shadow IT, OAuth token sprawl, data exfiltration paths, SaaS-to-SaaS integrations, and SSPM/CASB tooling

Can work independently with high autonomy, manage ambiguity, and make sound risk-based prioritization decisions in a fast-paced environment

Have excellent communication skills and can translate complex security topics into clear recommendations for technical and non-technical audiences

Strong candidates may have:

Securing corporate environments at high-growth AI, cloud, or developer-tools companies

Maturing a Corporate Security function from early stage, including defining scope, selecting the initial toolset, and hiring the founding team

Advanced macOS security (system extensions, endpoint security framework, MDM profile engineering, Declarative Device Management)

Network security architecture for hybrid/multi-office environments, including SD-WAN, ZTNA, DNS security, and network segmentation

Browser security and isolation technologies (e.g., Island, Talon/Palo Alto, Chrome Enterprise)

Proficiency in Python, Go, or similar languages for building sec

IT Support Engineer

About Anthropic

Anthropic's mission is to create reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems. We want AI to be safe and beneficial for our users and for society as a whole. Our team is a quickly growing group of committed researchers, engineers, policy experts, and business leaders working together to build beneficial AI systems.

About the role:

The IT Operations team keeps Anthropic running — we make sure every employee can do their best work without friction. We're seeking an IT Support Engineer who combines deep technical skills with a genuine service mindset and sound judgment.

Anthropic is growing fast, and our IT operations need to keep pace. That means onboarding at scale, automating repetitive processes (including with Claude), and continuously improving the employee experience. You'll handle support challenges across our primarily macOS environment while contributing to the operational improvements that help us scale. You'll work closely with IT Engineering and Security, with opportunities to grow into more technical infrastructure work over time.

Responsibilities

End-User Support

Triage and resolve issues across hardware, software, networking, and accounts — primarily through our ticketing system, with additional support via Slack and in-person

Diagnose and resolve issues across macOS, ChromeOS, iOS, Android, and our core SaaS platforms (Google Workspace, Slack, GitHub, Atlassian)

Troubleshoot device issues, including enrollment, configuration profiles, and policy enforcement

Support access management and employee lifecycle workflows (onboarding, offboarding, reorgs)

Handle escalations requiring cross-team coordination

Participate in an on-call rotation for urgent issues outside business hours

Provide hands-on support for user technology, AV systems, conference rooms, and printers

Communication & Documentation

Communicate clearly with users of all technical levels

Write and maintain internal documentation including runbooks, how-to guides, and knowledge base articles

Identify patterns in support requests, surface recurring issues to the team, and identify opportunities for automation or systemic solves

Operational Improvement

Help streamline onboarding and other high-volume operations as the company scales

Contribute to automation efforts

Maintain and improve device management, identity, and access systems

Assist with scripting (Bash, Python) to automate repetitive tasks

You may be a good fit if you

Have 5-7+ years of hands-on IT support experience, ideally in a fast-paced or high-growth environment

Are an excellent communicator who genuinely enjoys helping people solve problems

Have strong troubleshooting skills and are methodical, curious, and persistent

Demonstrated supporting macOS endpoints and comfortable supporting ChromeOS, iOS, and Android

Have significant experience with Google Workspace administration

Have experience with Slack administration — workspace management, permissions, and troubleshooting

Have substantial experience supporting and administering additional SaaS tools

Understand identity and access fundamentals — SSO, MFA, directory services

Are familiar with MDM fundamentals and endpoint management concepts

Have experience with basic scripting (Bash or Python) for automation

Take ownership of problems and follow through until they're resolved

Think beyond the immediate fix — you ask 'why did this happen?' and 'how do we prevent it?'

Are organised enough to manage competing priorities without things falling through the cracks

Propose solutions when you see a process that doesn't scale

Are looking to develop deeper technical skills and take on more complex systems administration challenges over time

Strong candidates may also

Be familiar with zero-trust security concepts and endpoint security tooling

Have experience with networking basics — DNS, DHCP, VPNs, networking fundamentals

Have contributed to IT projects beyond day-to-day support (migrations, tool rollouts, process redesigns)

Have experience using AI tools to improve personal or team productivity

Location

This role is based in one of our offices (San Francisco, Seattle or New York). We expect you to be in-office 4 days per week during your first few months, with the opportunity to work remotely up to 2 days per week after that. If you will be based out of the Seattle office we expect you to be in-office 5 days/week.

What Makes This Role Unique

You'll be joining a high-impact IT team supporting some of the world's leading AI researchers and engineers. The pace is fast and you'll have real ownership over your work. This isn't a role where you follow rigid scripts — you'll be trusted to use your judgment, improve our processes, and grow with the team. Because we're scaling rapidly, you'll have meaningful opportunities to shape how IT operations work at Anthropic.

None. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis.

About the Team

Security is at the foundation of OpenAI’s mission to ensure that artificial general intelligence benefits all of humanity. The Security team protects OpenAI’s technology, people, and products. We are technical in what we build but are operational in how we do our work, and are committed to supporting all products and research at OpenAI. Our Security team tenets include: prioritizing for impact, enabling researchers, preparing for future transformative technologies, and engaging a robust security culture.

About the Role

We're seeking an exceptional Principal-level Offensive Security Engineer to challenge and strengthen OpenAI's security posture. This role isn't your typical red team job - it's an opportunity to engage broadly and deeply, craft innovative attack simulations, collaborate closely with defensive teams, and influence strategic security improvements across the organization.

You'll have the chance to not only find vulnerabilities but actively drive their resolution, automate offensive techniques with cutting-edge technologies, and use your unique attacker perspective to shape our security strategy.

This role will be primarily focused on continuously testing our agent powered products like codex and operator. These systems are uniquely valuable targets because they’re rapidly evolving, have access to perform sensitive actions on behalf of users, and have large, diverse attack surfaces. You will play a crucial role in securing our agents by hunting for realistic vulnerabilities that emerge from the interactions between the applications, infrastructure, and models that power them.

In this role you will:

Continuously hunt for vulnerabilities in the interactions between the applications, infrastructure, and models that power our agentic products.

Conduct open-scope red and purple team operations, simulating realistic attack scenarios.

Collaborate proactively with defensive security teams to enhance detection, response, and mitigation capabilities.

Perform comprehensive penetration testing on our diverse suite of products.

Leverage advanced automation and OpenAI technologies to optimize your offensive security work.

Present insightful, actionable findings clearly and compellingly to inspire impactful change.

Influence security strategy by providing attacker-driven insights into risk and threat modeling.

You might thrive in this role if you have:

7+ years of hands-on red team experience or exceptional accomplishments demonstrating equivalent expertise.

Deep expertise conducting offensive security operations within modern technology companies.

Experience designing, developing, or testing assessing the security of AI-powered systems.

Experience working finding, exploiting and mitigating common vulnerabilities in AI systems like prompt injection, leaking sensitive data, confused deputies, and dynamically generated UI components.

Exceptional skill in code review, identifying novel and subtle vulnerabilities.
