As a key member of the team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring Southern Company has the reliable and affordable generation capacity it needs today and decades into the future.</p>\n<p>The Capacity Procurement team sits at the center of this transformation, working cross-functionally across the Company to develop and administer Request for Proposals (RFPs) to procure Energy Storage Systems and thermal generation to meet the growing load needs and fleet transition for Southern Company&#39;s retail operating companies.</p>\n<p>Key Responsibilities:</p>\n<ul>\n<li>Support the lifecycle development and administration of capacity RFPs</li>\n<li>Interface with internal partner organizations to design, implement, and administer capacity RFPs</li>\n<li>Work directly with the Public Service Commission Staff and 3rd Party Independent Evaluator (IE) during the design, implementation and administering of the RFP</li>\n<li>Identify and implement process improvements and program enhancements utilizing internal and external feedback</li>\n<li>Lead efforts to track major milestones for capacity RFPs and associated projects</li>\n<li>Provide regulatory support such as witness preparation, testimony, and data request response development, as needed for the certification process of selected proposals</li>\n</ul>\n<p>Requirements:</p>\n<ul>\n<li>Bachelor&#39;s degree in engineering, business, finance or other technical/business area of study preferred</li>\n<li>Additional consideration given for master&#39;s degree and/or relevant industry certifications (EIT, PE, CEM, PMP, etc.)</li>\n<li>Prior experience in generation, renewables, analytics, project management, system planning and/or operations preferred</li>\n<li>Demonstrated experience in project management, contract development, asset management and/or regulatory programs preferred</li>\n<li>Experience negotiating, developing, and / or managing procurement contracts (PPAs, APAs, BTAs, EPCs, LTSA) is preferred</li>\n</ul>\n<p>Working at Southern Company</p>\n<p>All Southern Company employees, including those in this role, are expected to provide storm support as needed and may be required to assist during storm events.
