In this role, you will work closely with the Polestar Sustainability team to develop, implement, and manage Polestar’s Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) reporting. You will ensure the integrity, validity, and comparability of financial ESG data disclosed under emerging regulations.

You will be joining a driven, experienced Accounting team that operates in Sweden, the US and China, and you will play a key role in shaping the future of finance for our organization by collaborating closely with both internal and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

• Help to develop and manage a comprehensive project plan for ESG reporting requirements, identifying gaps and driving accountability
• Facilitate the compilation of consistent, reliable, and comparable financial ESG disclosures as required by various regulations, including but not limited to: SEC Climate-related Disclosure Rules; EU Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) & EU Taxonomy; UK Climate-related Financial Disclosures & Streamlined Energy and Carbon Reporting; and California SB 253 & 261
• Participate in the Double Materiality Assessment with a focus on identifying, assessing and quantifying material financial risks and opportunities
• Support the establishment and maintenance of an ESG control framework and governance in collaboration with the Group Control Assurance (SOX) team
• Lead the work to ensure financial ESG data's audit-readiness, including documentation of its completeness and accuracy
• Support external reviews and assurance engagements for ESG reports and disclosures
• Analyze accounting and financial reporting considerations for complex topics with a focus on ESG
• Responsible for the internal sustainability compliance process for the Polestar Finance team
• Support ad hoc and recurring financial reporting matters

Who you are:

Experience and knowledge:

• At least 5 years of experience in the Big 4/public accounting
• Working experience with global and SEC registered companies
• University degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting or equivalent
• Excellent analytical skills including comfort working with large, complex data sets
• Demonstrated knowledge of IFRS, SEC reporting and SOX requirements
• Experience applying know-how of technical accounting and financial reporting standards
• Ability to research these matters and prepare well-written memoranda and presentations
• Experience in ESG reporting, measurement, and performance evaluation is highly advantageous

The Sustainability Analyst develops and implements effective data collection methods and tools to support our reporting requirements both internally and externally. Key responsibilities include:

Develop, manage and organise sustainability data collection, analysis, and reporting methods for sustainability KPIs and initiatives. Create visual data dashboards for the team in Monday.com, Looker/Power BI to track performance or build spreadsheets that combine data from multiple sources. Co-ordinate with internal teams and collect responses for external disclosures, preparing data that is accurate, meets the required standards and has the appropriate supporting documentation (CDP Climate, CDP Forests, CDP Water, EcoVadis, TCFD, SECR, Modern Slavery Statement, CBAM, CSRD, Retailer or Membership SAQs). Support the Sustainability team on projects such as research, data gathering and developing insights on Sustainability trends, risks and opportunities, identifying and assessing impact of existing and emerging sustainability regulations and with other tasks such as tailoring documents, policies and preparing presentations for the Sustainable Business Committee and Supplier meetings.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

Good understanding of sustainability data and GHG reporting, ideally with some experience of compiling, reviewing and analysing environmental sustainability data such as Scope 3 emissions and Product Carbon footprints. Strong numerical skills and advanced Excel skills, confident with manipulating large data sets (Charts, Tables, Lookups, Conditional Formatting, Automation). Confident with analysing data, an eye for detail, and the ability to identify hot spots, trends and anomalies. Skilled at visualising complex data to aid decision making and speak to the datasets for a range of audience. Experience of using data analytics and visualisation software (Tableau, Power BI, Looker). Good understanding and passion for sustainability, the challenges and opportunities, sustainability issues present for business (e.g., governance, environment, material use, supply chain and manufacturing, human rights and community relations). Awareness of ESG reporting standards and frameworks (GHG protocols, SBTi. CDP, GRI, TCFD, UN SDGs). Awareness of existing and emerging ESG regulations. Degree in a related subject with sustainability or ESG modules. Curious by nature with the appetite to learn, develop and use data to drive change. Good at building relationships and excellent communication skills. Excellent organisational and project management skills, able to prioritise, problem-solve and manage time effectively.

Nice to have:

Experience of Lifecycle analysis tools. Experience working in corporate sustainability in a Retail or FMCG business.

Your mission

• Develop and implement a comprehensive ESG strategy aligned with the team’s goals and Formula 1’s Net Zero Carbon by 2030 commitment

• Lead environmental initiatives including carbon footprint reduction, sustainable fuel integration and renewable energy adoption

• Deliver cost cap efficiencies working in close collaboration with finance

• Strong understanding of sustainability frameworks (e.g. ISO 14001, GRI, SDGs)

• Experience with Data Analytics & ESG reporting tools

• Project Management know-how driving cross-functional projects

• Experience in driving social responsibility programmes focused on diversity, inclusion and community engagement would be an advantage

• Excellent stakeholder management skills

• Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate and work with teams across multiple locations
