      <Description><![CDATA[<p>We are seeking an ambitious and collaborative Environmental Engineer to join the Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) team to support the development and operation of Saronic&#39;s Port Alpha shipyard. This role will serve as the on-site environmental lead responsible for environmental due diligence, permitting, monitoring, and compliance across all phases of site development and shipyard operations.</p>
<p>The Environmental Engineer will support the transition of a coastal site into a fully operational shipyard, which may include greenfield development, redevelopment of previously used industrial properties, or brownfield remediation. In addition, this role will oversee environmental compliance programs related to air quality, water quality, stormwater management, hazardous waste, and hazardous materials, while supporting environmental monitoring and regulatory reporting.</p>
<p>The Environmental Engineer will partner with engineering, construction, and operations teams to reduce environmental risk and ensure regulatory compliance during the development and operation of Port Alpha.</p>
<p>Responsibilities:</p>
<p>Environmental Due Diligence &amp; Site Assessments</p>
<ul>
<li><p>Lead environmental due diligence activities including Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs), site investigations, and coordination with environmental consultants.</p>
</li>
<li><p>Evaluate and manage environmental risks associated with greenfield and brownfield site development, including site characterization, remediation planning, and regulatory closure strategies where applicable.</p>
</li>
</ul>
<p>Environmental Permitting &amp; Waterfront Development</p>
<ul>
<li><p>Develop and execute the environmental permitting strategy for shipyard development and waterfront infrastructure.</p>
</li>
<li><p>Manage permitting activities including wetlands permitting, dredging and fill permits, coastal development approvals, and USACE Section 404 and Section 10 permits.</p>
</li>
<li><p>Support integration of environmental requirements into site planning, engineering design, and construction activities.</p>
</li>
</ul>
<p>Environmental Compliance Programs</p>
<ul>
<li><p>Establish and oversee environmental compliance programs including air permits, hazardous and industrial waste management, stormwater pollution prevention (SWPPP), Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasure (SPCC), and wastewater discharge permits.</p>
</li>
<li><p>Identify and mitigate environmental risks to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations.</p>
</li>
</ul>
<p>Environmental Monitoring &amp; Regulatory Reporting</p>
<ul>
<li><p>Develop and manage environmental monitoring and inspection programs including stormwater monitoring, water quality monitoring, wetlands monitoring, and construction environmental compliance inspections.</p>
</li>
<li><p>Prepare and submit environmental regulatory reports including Tier II Chemical Inventory, Toxic Release Inventory (TRI), hazardous waste reports, and air emissions inventories.</p>
</li>
<li><p>Maintain environmental documentation and records to ensure compliance and audit readiness.</p>
</li>
</ul>
<p>Regulatory &amp; Cross-Functional Coordination</p>
<ul>
<li><p>Serve as a primary environmental liaison with U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), EPA, and state environmental agencies, supporting permit applications, regulatory interactions, and agency inspections.</p>
</li>
<li><p>Provide environmental guidance to engineering, construction, and operations teams to ensure environmental requirements are incorporated into site development and shipyard operations.</p>
</li>
<li><p>Support environmental training, internal audits, regulatory reporting, and continuous improvement of environmental management systems.</p>
</li>
</ul>
<p>Qualifications:</p>
<ul>
<li><p>Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Public Health, or related environmental discipline</p>
</li>
<li><p>5+ years of environmental permitting, compliance, or environmental consulting experience</p>
</li>
<li><p>Experience conducting or managing Environmental Site Assessments (Phase I and Phase II)</p>
</li>
<li><p>Experience working with coastal environmental regulations, wetlands permitting, or waterfront development</p>
</li>
<li><p>Knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental regulations including EPA programs</p>
</li>
<li><p>Experience preparing environmental regulatory reports such as Tier II, TRI, hazardous waste reports, or air emissions inventories</p>
</li>
<li><p>Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills</p>
</li>
<li><p>Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment</p>
</li>
</ul>
<p>Preferred Qualifications:</p>
<ul>
<li><p>Advanced knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental regulations.</p>
</li>
<li><p>Experience supporting shipyards, ports, maritime infrastructure, or waterfront industrial development</p>
</li>
<li><p>Direct experience with USACE permitting processes</p>
</li>
<li><p>Experience with brownfield redevelopment and remediation programs</p>
</li>
<li><p>Experience with wetlands permitting, dredging permits, or coastal resource protection</p>
</li>
<li><p>Experience preparing environmental reports in US coastal states</p>
</li>
<li><p>Professional certifications such as CHMM (Certified Hazardous Materials Manager), Professional Engineer (P.E.), or Environmental Professional (EP)</p>
</li>
<li><p>Experience managing multi-media environmental compliance programs</p>
</li>
</ul>
<p>Physical Requirements:</p>
<ul>
<li><p>Ability to work on-site at a waterfront industrial facility</p>

<li><p>Position may require occasional overtime and weekend work during permitting, construction, or regulatory deadlines</p>

<li>Excellent communication skills, organised with the ability to prioritise workloads and remain calm under pressure.</li>
