We are seeking a Technical Writer to create clear, concise, and comprehensive documentation for our autonomous surface vessels. The successful candidate will collaborate with engineers, designers, and other stakeholders to gather information and understand technical specifications and requirements.
\nResponsibilities:\nCollaborate with engineers, designers, and other stakeholders to gather information and understand technical specifications and requirements\nCreate and maintain technical documentation, including user manuals, system manuals, specifications, and other technical guides for our autonomous surface vessels\nTranslate complex technical concepts into clear and accessible documentation that is easy for end-users to understand\nEnsure that all documentation adheres to industry standards and best practices, as well as any relevant DoD regulations and guidelines\nReview and edit documentation for accuracy, consistency, and clarity, ensuring that it meets the needs of our target audience\nWork closely with the product development team to stay updated on project timelines, milestones, and deliverables\nContinuously update and improve existing documentation based on feedback from users, stakeholders, and internal teams\nStay informed about emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices in technical writing and documentation
\nQualifications:\nBachelor's degree in Technical Writing, English, Communications, or a related field\nExperience as a Technical Writer, preferably in a technology-driven environment or within the defense industry\nStrong writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical information clearly and effectively\nProficient with version control systems and front-end development\nFamiliarity with docs as code, markdown content formatting, Javascript, CSS, and Nunjucks templating a plus\nFamiliarity with DoD standards and regulations related to technical documentation is a plus\nExcellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines\nStrong attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work\nExcellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams\nA proactive and self-motivated approach to work, with the ability to work independently and take initiative when needed
