In this role, you&#39;ll be a key member of our Marketing team, translating complex technical concepts into compelling visual stories that resonate with developers and technical decision-makers.</p>\n<p>You&#39;ll craft everything from in-person event experiences to web graphics, merch designs, and creative website assets that make databases feel exciting.</p>\n<p><strong>Responsibilities</strong></p>\n<p><strong>Visual Brand Development</strong></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Design web graphics including technical diagrams, illustrations, and interactive visual assets that simplify complex database concepts</li>\n<li>Create compelling visual systems for campaigns, product launches, and marketing initiatives</li>\n<li>Develop brand assets that maintain consistency while pushing creative boundaries</li>\n<li>Design for multiple formats and contexts: digital, print, experiential, and merchandise</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>In-Person Experiences</strong></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Design booth graphics, signage, and environmental branding for conferences, meetups, and community events</li>\n<li>Collaborate with the events team to create memorable, on-brand experiences that stand out</li>\n<li>Design merch that developers actually want to wear and use</li>\n<li>Create branded collateral including banners, posters, stickers, and promotional materials</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Website &amp; Digital Assets</strong></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Partner with web and product marketing teams to design creative website components and landing pages</li>\n<li>Design data visualizations, technical diagrams, and infographics that make complex information accessible</li>\n<li>Create social media graphics, blog post imagery, and other digital marketing assets</li>\n<li>Develop templates and design systems that enable the team to move quickly</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Brand Evolution</strong></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Collaborate with marketing leadership to evolve and expand the PlanetScale brand identity</li>\n<li>Explore new visual directions while maintaining brand coherence</li>\n<li>Document design decisions and maintain brand guidelines</li>\n<li>Mentor and provide feedback to other team members on brand application</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Requirements</strong></p>\n<ul>\n<li>A strong portfolio demonstrating versatile design skills across digital, print, and experiential design</li>\n<li>Deep understanding of design fundamentals: typography, color, composition, and visual hierarchy</li>\n<li>Comfortable working in both brand and production modes,you can think big picture and execute in the details</li>\n<li>Strong communication skills with the ability to articulate design decisions and defend creative work</li>\n<li>Self-directed and able to manage multiple projects with competing deadlines</li>\n<li>Collaborative spirit with the ability to incorporate feedback while maintaining creative vision</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Nice to Have</strong></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Experience designing for technical or developer-focused brands</li>\n<li>Proficiency in Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, and other design tools</li>\n<li>Experience working with web developers to implement designs</li>\n<li>Understanding of design systems and component-based thinking</li>\n<li>Enthusiasm for learning about databases, infrastructure, and developer tools</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Why PlanetScale</strong></p>\n<p>We&#39;re redefining how high-growth companies manage data at scale,and we work with some of the most exciting brands in gaming, consumer tech, and B2B SaaS.
