Responsibilities:

• Design and ship billing capabilities end to end
• Build for correctness first, ensuring idempotency, reconciliation, and audit trails
• Own the interfaces, designing contracts that hide complexity and hold up under change
• Make build-vs-buy calls, deciding where to extend third-party billing, payment, and tax platforms and where to build our own primitives around them
• Own the payments stack, including authorization rates, retry logic, processing cost, automated dispute response, and fraud controls
• Drive down manual work, closing the gap between enterprise contract amendments, pricing config changes, and billing support escalations
• Operate what you ship, owning SLOs on customer-facing flows and instrumenting the revenue pipeline to surface discrepancies before month-end close
• Partner across the company, helping to thread the needle between Growth, Sales, Finance, and product teams

Requirements:

• 8+ years building backend or platform systems in production, 3+ years leading large-scale, complex projects or teams as an engineer or tech lead
• Track record of shipping in fast-moving environments where requirements shift under you and you still land something correct and maintainable
• Care about correctness and data integrity as first-class design concerns, not afterthoughts
• Enjoy cross-functional work, translating between Product, Finance, Sales, and Legal

Preferred qualifications include experience building billing, payments, subscription, or fintech systems, integrating or extending third-party billing and payment platforms, and working on revenue reconciliation, financial reporting pipelines, or systems that survived an audit.
