      <Description><![CDATA[<p>We&#39;re looking for an experienced public policy leader to serve as Head of Government Affairs, leading our engagement with government stakeholders across North America. This is a high-impact, high-visibility role at the intersection of technology, policy, and purpose, and a rare opportunity to shape how one of the world&#39;s most positively differentiated platforms navigates an evolving political and regulatory landscape.</p>
<p>Based in Washington, D.C., you will be the architect of Pinterest&#39;s public policy strategy across multiple jurisdictions. You will build and steward the relationships, coalitions, and campaigns necessary to educate policymakers about Pinterest&#39;s unique platform, advocate for sound policy outcomes, and ensure the company is recognised as a trusted and responsible technology leader.</p>
<p>The ideal candidate brings broad and deep experience navigating public policy issues pertaining to technology, internet platforms, and digital innovation. The role is ideally suited for a proactive, results-oriented leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment, and is equally comfortable diving into the substance of complex policy challenges, and building the strategic relationships needed to advance Pinterest&#39;s policy priorities and protect the company&#39;s interests.</p>

<p>As the Head of Government Affairs, you will:</p>
<ul>
<li>Lead our public policy efforts and advocacy in North America. You will develop and execute our government affairs strategy at the country, state, and local levels and to address the impact of proposals on Pinterest’s products, operations, growth, and strategic initiatives.</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>Build trusted relationships with policymakers, issue experts, trade associations, and industry partners to mobilise support on key issues that impact Pinterest’s ability to achieve its mission and support our users.</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>Navigate a wide range of technology policy areas, including data privacy, AI governance, content moderation, online safety, children&#39;s digital wellbeing, competition/antitrust, intellectual property, and digital advertising.</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>Advise colleagues, as well as senior management and cross-functional leaders, about relevant legislative issues and strategies to inform policy development and deliver effective solutions and valuable outcomes.</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>Proactively collaborate with external constituencies on a range of issues that matter to Pinterest to ensure our team is thoughtfully engaging on various challenges that could impact our ability to serve Pinners.</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>Drive cross functional alignment by partnering with colleagues across Legal, Communications, Trust &amp; Safety, Product, and other teams on integrated advocacy campaigns, strategic positioning, and external engagement that aligns with company objectives across priority jurisdictions.</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>Deploy an AI-enabled policy function to track legislative and regulatory developments, map stakeholders, and generate engagement strategies and policy positioning to disseminate actionable recommendations across the organisation.</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>Maintain a knowledge base leveraging AI-driven tagging and retrieval mechanisms to ensure consistent, high-quality advocacy materials and to facilitate the development of tailored messaging for various stakeholders.</li>
</ul>
<p>What we’re looking for:</p>
<ul>
<li>12+ years of progressive experience in government affairs, public policy, or legislative/regulatory roles, with significant focus on the technology sector.</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>Comprehensive knowledge of internet platform policy, digital innovation, and the regulatory frameworks shaping the tech industry.</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>Excellent communication and public speaking skills and a compelling storyteller who can distill complex technical and policy concepts for diverse audiences, from Capitol Hill to the C-Suite.</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>Exceptional strategic acumen with the ability to see around corners, anticipate policy shifts, and develop proactive strategies that protect and advance business interests.</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>A strong track record of developing and leading execution of public policy campaigns to address public policy challenges and achieve high-level objectives.</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>The ability to work independently and develop and maintain relationships across the company, while working remotely from Washington, DC.</li>
</ul>

<li>Demonstrated capacity to operationalise AI tools for policy intelligence, drafting workflows, stakeholder mapping, and issue management.</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>You thrive in an environment with changing needs and variability across work and issues week to week.</li>
</ul>

<li>Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as political science, government or equivalent experience. JD, MPP/MPA also welcome, but not required.</li>

<p><strong>About the Role</strong></p>
<p>As a U.S. Federal Affairs Lead, you will be part of OpenAI’s Global Affairs team and will help develop strategies and advance OpenAI’s engagement with the U.S. federal government. You will focus on engagement with the White House, executive branch agencies, and relevant third party groups, helping to shape policy discussions and regulatory frameworks that impact AI development and deployment. You will support OpenAI’s leadership in meetings, briefings, and other engagements and will be responsible for tracking and analyzing executive actions and federal regulatory developments.</p>
<p><strong>Key responsibilities include:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Assist in the development and implementation of a comprehensive federal government engagement strategy focused on artificial intelligence policy and regulation.</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>Build and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers within the White House, the Executive Office of the President, and federal agencies.</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>Represent OpenAI in meetings with administration officials, policymakers, and other stakeholders on behalf of OpenAI.</li>

<li>Track and analyze federal executive actions and regulatory developments impacting AI.</li>

<li>Collaborate with internal teams, including legal, technical teams, research, and communications, to prepare policy briefs, position papers, and responses to government inquiries on AI-related issues.</li>

<li>Extensive experience in technology policy</li>

<li>Experience with the administrative process, including but not limited to responding to agency requests for information.</li>
</ul>

<li>Track record of effectively working with cross-functional teams, especially communications, policy and legal teams, and aligning a diverse range of internal and external partners</li>
