Your strategic insights will help mitigate the cost that VAT leakage represents, in order for the business to use the cash to continue expanding globally.</p>
<p><strong>Key Job Responsibilities</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>End-to-end ownership and management of material VAT/GST cash recovery in complex countries. Working with regional/in-country compliance specialists to solve ongoing challenges with respect to pending VAT/GST refunds</li>
<li>Work with VAT/GST compliance and planning teams to document a refund &#39;standard operating procedure&#39; across all &#39;challenging&#39; VAT/GST jurisdictions</li>
<li>Ensure all refunds mitigate any VAT leakage to maximize cash benefit to business</li>
<li>Deliver improved VAT/GST cash refund timelines in targeted countries</li>
<li>Work with partner teams across tax, accounting, legal, and FinOps to ensure a robust &#39;refund readiness&#39; process is in place with respect to known VAT refund audit data requests from tax authorities</li>
<li>Maintain comprehensive global VAT receivables register and track aging of receivables</li>
<li>Document all efforts and actions taken by teams to obtain VAT refunds globally</li>
<li>Prepare detailed status reports on VAT refund initiatives by region (Americas, APAC, EMEA)</li>
<li>Maintain audit trail of correspondence with tax authorities</li>
<li>Create and update process documentation for</li>
<li>Track key milestones and deadlines for refund applications</li>
<li>Collaborate with accounting teams to reconcile VAT receivable balances quarterly</li>
<li>Work with tax compliance teams to validate receivable amounts and classifications</li>
<li>Partner with tax planning teams to assess recoverability and timing expectations</li>
<li>Update financial systems with current VAT receivable positions</li>
<li>Prepare quarter-over-quarter variance analysis and explanations</li>
<li>Coordinate with regional tax teams on refund claim preparation and submission</li>
<li>Interface with accounting teams on GL reconciliations and journal entries</li>
<li>Support tax compliance teams with documentation requirements</li>
<li>Establish KPIs and metrics to measure refund progress</li>
<li>Develop action plans to accelerate delayed refunds</li>
<li>Identify opportunities to streamline VAT refund processes</li>
<li>Implement controls to prevent future receivables accumulation</li>
