The ideal candidate can move fast but with high quality, and views the early stages of product development as a creative canvas and opportunity for high impact.</p>\n<p><strong>Responsibilities</strong></p>\n<p>As a backend Staff Engineer, you&#39;ll:</p>\n<ul>\n<li>Architect, design, and evolve backend systems, platform services, and APIs using Python and related technologies.</li>\n<li>Partner closely with data scientists and machine learning engineers to productionize AI/ML capabilities and integrate models into reliable backend infrastructure.</li>\n<li>Design and scale distributed systems that process large volumes of data with strong performance, availability, and operational excellence.</li>\n<li>Build secure, resilient data storage and retrieval systems, with a focus on data integrity, privacy, and governance.</li>\n<li>Work across the full product lifecycle, from early concept exploration and technical design through implementation, launch, and ongoing production ownership.</li>\n<li>Lead complex, cross-team technical initiatives that influence roadmap execution and raise the engineering bar across the organization.</li>\n<li>Produce maintainable, well-tested, observable code and improve the systems, tooling, and standards that support long-term engineering quality.</li>\n<li>Mentor engineers across the team, sharing expertise in backend architecture, distributed systems, and engineering best practices.</li>\n<li>Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies, and proactively identify opportunities to improve our backend platform, infrastructure, and development workflows.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Requirements</strong></p>\n<ul>\n<li>BA/BS degree or equivalent experience</li>\n</ul>\n<p>You&#39;ll thrive in this role if you:</p>\n<ul>\n<li>Bring 7+ years of software engineering experience, including deep expertise in backend engineering and distributed systems at scale.</li>\n<li>Have a strong technical foundation in software design and development, with experience across multiple programming languages such as Python, Java, or Go, and a strong grasp of modern frameworks, system design, and architectural patterns.</li>\n<li>Have designed, built, and operated reliable distributed systems and data-intensive services in production, with a strong understanding of scalability, fault tolerance, observability, and performance optimization.</li>\n<li>Are highly proficient in backend API design, service-oriented architecture, asynchronous processing, and data modeling.</li>\n<li>Have experience building secure systems and implementing robust approaches to data integrity, privacy, and access control.</li>\n<li>Are comfortable working hands-on in the code and use your technical depth to lead through implementation, not just direction-setting.</li>\n<li>Have demonstrated technical leadership across ambiguous, cross-functional initiatives, influencing architecture, execution, and engineering strategy beyond your immediate team.</li>\n<li>Partner effectively with product, design, data, and ML stakeholders to translate evolving business needs into scalable technical solutions.</li>\n<li>Excel at code review, technical mentorship, and raising the quality bar for system design, engineering practices, and operational excellence.</li>\n<li>Bring strong judgment, communicate clearly, and make pragmatic tradeoffs in fast-moving environments.</li>\n<li>Have experience supporting and growing other engineers through mentorship, and ideally have helped shape hiring and team-building efforts.</li>\n<li>Hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or bring equivalent practical experience</li>\n<li>Stay curious and open to growth , demonstrating a proactive embrace of AI, and actively building and applying fluency in emerging technologies to elevate how we work, drive faster outcomes, and expand collective impact.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Our Core Behaviors</strong></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Build lasting customer trust.
