Staff Engineer

We're big believers in the power of IRL, so for most roles we ask Campers to work from their local Culture Amp office an average of 2 days a week to unlock connection, pace and culture together.

Join us on our mission to make a better world of work. Culture Amp is the world's leading employee experience platform, revolutionizing how 25 million employees across more than 6,000 companies create a better world of work.

How you can help make a better world of work

We're looking for a Staff Engineer to help build Culture Amp's internal facing Agent Hub, the central technical capability for designing, shipping, and governing autonomous agents across the business.

You’ll help define the architecture, engineering patterns, operating model, and guardrails that make agentic systems useful, secure, observable, and safe to run in production.

As part of this team of amazing humans,

You’ll be one of the founding members of a small high-ownership team building Culture Amp’s agentic capability from the ground up.

The Hub works as a central enablement function: setting standards, building shared capabilities, and helping teams across the business move from experimentation to governed, production-ready agents and workflows.

You will

Play a lead role in setting the technical direction for the Agent Hub’s foundational capabilities, including agent execution, orchestration, MCP tools, identity, context and knowledge, evaluation, and operational visibility.

Design, build, and operate autonomous agents, workflows, and integrations for internal use cases , choosing thoughtfully between deterministic automation, simple tools, single agents, and multi-agent systems.

Build reusable MCP servers and tool patterns, including clear schemas, credential brokering, identity-aware access, per-call authorisation, and auditable interactions with systems of record.

Shape the knowledge and context layer that grounds agents in Culture Amp’s organisation-specific information, using appropriate combinations of document retrieval, vector search, knowledge graphs, registries, and semantic models.

Establish the engineering practices that move solutions from laptop-based experimentation to managed services: secure deployment, testing, evaluation, observability, cost awareness, reliability, and safe human escalation.

Partner with teams across the business to identify high-value problems, shape loosely defined opportunities, and deliver solutions that people actually adopt.

Apply and evolve Culture Amp’s agent registry, risk framework, and governance patterns so every deployed agent has clear ownership, purpose, authority, data access, and accountability.

Raise the capability of the wider function through coaching, architecture guidance, reusable patterns, documentation, and playbooks , enabling teams to move quickly within well-designed guardrails.

You have

Strong backend engineering skills (ideally in TypeScript and/or Python), including APIs, testing, service design, and building production systems or integrations end to end.

Hands-on experience delivering and operating cloud-native solutions in AWS, with a strong understanding of security, identity, permissions, secrets, and reliability in production.

Practical experience with AI agents, Claude or similar tooling, MCP or comparable integration patterns, and orchestration across single-agent, multi-agent, workflow, and human-in-the-loop systems.

Working knowledge of agent platforms and runtime concerns such as tool permissions, identity propagation, session state, token and time budgets, retries, evaluation, tracing, cost attribution, and auditability.

Experience designing knowledge or memory architectures, including vector or graph-based retrieval, and the judgment to choose between build, buy, configure, workflow, and agentic approaches.

A track record of taking ambiguous, unscoped problems from discovery through to a shipped and governed solution, earning stakeholder influence through delivery.

The ability to define platform boundaries and self-service patterns so other teams can move independently without compromising security or operational quality.

You are

Energised by building something from zero , you’d rather define the pattern than inherit one.

Comfortable holding ambiguity, making decisions with incomplete information, and iterating in the open rather than waiting for a perfect plan.

A systems thinker who can move between architecture, implementation, operations, and the human behaviours needed for adoption.

Pragmatic about hype: excited by autonomous agents, MCP, and knowledge graphs, but focused on what creates measurable value and can be operated safely at scale.

A generous, team-first collaborator who shares context freely, lifts the people around you, and treats the Hub’s success as more important than individual credit.

Perks & Benefits

At Culture Amp, our people are at the heart of our success. We offer competitive pay and a total rewards package designed to support you at work and in life. This includes:

Equity through our Employee Share Option Program, so you can share in our long-term success

Learning programs and coaching to help you thrive and grow

Quarterly refresh days, an extended end-of-year break and a monthly allowance to support your wellbeing and lifestyle

Inclusive parental leave from day one

A MacBook and budget to set up your home workspace, enabling flexibility

Five annual social impact days to to give back to causes that matter to you

Medical insurance coverage for you and your family (Available for US & UK only)

Senior Systems Engineer

We're big believers in the power of IRL, so for most roles we ask Campers to work from their local Culture Amp office an average of 2 days a week to unlock connection, pace and culture together.

Join us on our mission to make a better world of work.

Culture Amp is backed by leading venture capital funds and has offices in the US, UK, Germany and Australia. Culture Amp has been recognized as one of the world’s top private cloud companies by Forbes and most innovative companies by Fast Company.

How you can help make a better world of work

You'll design, automate and operate the systems that let Campers work everywhere, every day. You'll own identity, endpoint management and workplace infrastructure end to end, with AWS, networking and enterprise AI as supporting areas you help keep secure, reliable and well governed. This is a hands-on engineering role, not a service-desk escalation seat: you'll build the automation that makes the environment self-sustaining, and mentor others as you go.

What you'll own

Identity & access: Okta administration and identity lifecycle automation: Workflows, SSO, SCIM, access governance, and joiner/mover/leaver processes.

Endpoint engineering: The Jamf Pro platform and Apple device lifecycle: zero-touch deployment, configuration management, patching, compliance and fleet health.

Workplace automation: Reliable automation using Python, PowerShell, Terraform/CloudFormation and workflow platforms to cut manual operations and improve consistency across the SaaS estate.

What you'll do

Cloud & network: Operate selected AWS and Meraki services, improving reliability, security, observability and documented recovery procedures.

Enterprise AI platforms: Administer and evolve platforms such as Glean, Claude for Enterprise and Gemini including access controls, data-source permissions, integrations, usage governance, security reviews and internal adoption.

Observability: Design monitoring, alerting and safe remediation workflows for critical services, using automation and AI-assisted operations where appropriate and properly governed.

Escalation & support: Provide senior escalation support for complex infrastructure and workplace technology incidents, driving root-cause analysis, remediation and preventative improvements.

What you bring

Essential:

Several years engineering or administering corporate infrastructure in a SaaS or technology-led company

Strong Okta administration and identity lifecycle experience, including building and troubleshooting Workflows

Strong Jamf Pro and macOS fleet-management experience

Experience automating operational processes with Python, PowerShell, APIs, workflows or IaC

Experience troubleshooting complex incidents and performing root-cause analysis

Strong stakeholder communication and documentation skills

Willing to work from the Richmond office at least two days a week

Comfortable working with ambiguity and shifting priorities

Dive in without being asked, but work-out-loud and share what you’ve learned along the way

Valuable:

AWS experience: EC2, Route 53, Lambda, Fargate

Terraform or CloudFormation

Cisco Meraki

Enterprise AI platform administration and governance

Observability tooling: CloudWatch, Datadog, Splunk or PagerDuty

Jira Service Management, Google Workspace, Slack or Atlassian administration

Perks & Benefits

At Culture Amp, our people are at the heart of our success. We offer competitive pay and a total rewards package designed to support you at work and in life. This includes:

Equity through our Employee Share Option Program, so you can share in our long-term success

Lead renewals process discipline and set strategy for renewal negotiations, manage commercial timelines, and hold the team accountable for securing outcomes well ahead of renewal dates; own GRR as a personal accountability.

Coach CSMs and Renewals Managers into strategic advisors to develop the team through a consistent operating rhythm of 1:1s, performance coaching, feedback, and career development conversations that build capability and drive accountability.

Serve as executive sponsor on high-stakes accounts and act as the senior CX point of contact for complex escalations, expectation resets, and moments where the partnership with the customer is at risk.

Drive adoption goal-setting and outcome delivery to set adoption goals across the pod's book, hold the team accountable to specific account plans, and move the team from reactive firefighting to proactive customer engagement.

Set the tone for one GTM engine. Model cross-functional trust, unified customer engagement, and shared accountability across Sales and CX; the pod operates as one team with one commercial goal.

Optimize jointly for NRR and value creation to ensure every pod decision, from resource allocation to customer prioritization, connects to long-term value creation and predictable net revenue retention.

Synthesize and deliver joint pod QBRs to co-present quarterly business reviews covering pod performance across Sales, CX, and customer health dimensions.

Serve as the pod's ultimate escalation point and own the resolution of complex, cross-functional, or customer-facing issues within the pod; engage senior or cross-functional partners (Support, People Science, RevOps) when the situation requires it.

Build a pod culture of performance to set a clear vision for the pod alongside the Sales Pod Leader, translate strategy into focused execution, and create an environment where ambition, accountability, and collaboration thrive.

Experience & Knowledge Needed

Demonstrated success as a Customer Success leader, with direct accountability for GRR, renewal outcomes, and a team's performance against retention and adoption goals.

Lead pod territory design within your book of business. Working with your Sales Pod Leader and RevOps, translate the pod's assigned accounts into clearly defined CSM and RM territories that optimize for coverage, collaboration, and customer continuity.

Diagnose and manage portfolio health through monitoring adoption trends, engagement signals, and risk indicators using Vitally, Salesforce, and Gong; ensuring a no-surprises renewal motion through early identification, strong value realization, and proactive mitigation of at-risk accounts.

Manage team performance rigorously and lead them through structured performance management, ensure high standards are celebrated and gaps are addressed, and contribute to hiring and onboarding decisions that raise the bar of the team.

Shared Pod Responsibilities (co-owned with the Director, Sales)

Own the customer lifecycle as a shared responsibility and partner closely with the Sales Pod Leader to ensure seamless handoffs, no gaps in customer coverage, and a joined-up experience from acquisition through adoption, renewal, and expansion.

Set the tone for one GTM engine. Model cross-functional trust, unified customer engagement, and shared accountability across Sales and CX; the pod operates as one team with one commercial goal.

Co-create the pod's GTM play roadmap and partner with the Sales Pod Leader to identify the Sales & CX quarterly plan and roadmap of plays and customer segments the pod will prioritize; document the approach and recommend plays upward to regional and functional leadership.

Optimize jointly for NRR and value creation to ensure every pod decision, from resource allocation to customer prioritization, connects to long-term value creation and predictable net revenue retention.

Drive AI fluency and tool adoption across the pod to actively model the use of AI tools to improve efficiency and output quality; hold the team accountable for building AI-enabled habits into their daily workflow.

Experience owning and delivering a renewal forecast, including speaking to movement, risk, and the specific actions driving the result.

Deep understanding of CS methodology, LAER frameworks, and value-based customer engagement in a B2B SaaS environment.

Proven ability to coach and develop CS practitioners into high-performing strategic advisors.

Commercial confidence, comfortable navigating renewal negotiations, expansion conversations, executive-level customer engagement, and escalations.

Experience working cross-functionally with Sales, People Science, Implementation, Support, and RevOps to drive customer outcomes.

Demonstrated ability to work through ambiguity and lead a team through change, evolving models, or new ways of working.

Qualifications Needed

Strong coaching and people leadership capabilities, with the ability to build accountability and develop talent.

Senior leadership presence and communication skills required for high-stakes customer moments and internal stakeholder alignment.

Inclusive parental leave from day one.

A MacBook and budget to set up your home workspace, enabling flexibility.

Five annual social impact days to give back to causes that matter to you.

Chief People Officer

We’re big believers in the power of IRL, so for most roles we ask Campers to work from their local Culture Amp office an average of 2 days a week to unlock connection, pace and culture together.

Join us on our mission to make a better world of work. Culture Amp is the world’s leading employee experience platform, revolutionizing how 25 million employees across more than 6,000 companies create a better world of work.

Our Chief People Officer is moving on after three and a half years. They leave behind a People Experience function that works well: predictable delivery, a capable team, a high bar on senior hiring, and a seat at the table that has been earned and respected.

What you'll own

The role has several dimensions. They are listed in order of weight, and we mean the order.

Run People Experience (PX) well

Be credible in the market and with customers

Lead on AI, personally

Influence the product

What we're looking for:

You've led a people function at scale in a global, multi-country business, ideally through a period of significant change.

You build teams strong enough to make you unnecessary in the operational detail, and you've done it before rather than intending to.

You have judgement about organisations that people seek out: structure, senior talent, when to intervene and when not to.

You're willing to say unpopular things to powerful people early, and you've got the track record to prove it isn't just a line in an interview.

You're personally very capable with AI. You use it in your own work, you've built things with it, and you've set governance that enabled adoption rather than slowed it, including across functions you don't own.

You have a view about the future of work that is yours, and you can credibly defend it in front of an audience of HR leaders.

You're willing to be deployed commercially: joining customer calls, taking the hard practitioner questions Sales can't answer, and speaking at our events.

We’re big believers in the power of IRL, so for most roles we ask Campers to work from their local Culture Amp office an average of 2 days a week to unlock connection, pace and culture together.

Join us on our mission to make a better world of work. Culture Amp is the world’s leading employee experience platform, revolutionizing how 25 million employees across more than 6,000 companies create a better world of work. Culture Amp empowers companies of all sizes and industries to transform employee engagement, drive performance management, and develop high-performing teams.

Our Chief People Officer is moving on after three and a half years. They leave behind a People Experience function that works well: predictable delivery, a capable team, a high bar on senior hiring, and a seat at the table that has been earned and respected.

The role has several dimensions:

Run People Experience (PX) well

You'll own a strong and coherent function that delivers its cycles well and on time: performance, engagement, compensation, talent acquisition, capability, compliance across four countries. No surprises to the Exec. No escalations arriving at the CEO's desk that should have been resolved two levels down.

Be credible in the market and with customers

You'll speak at our global events and in the market, join customer conversations, and support Sales and Customer Experience in rooms where a practitioner's view might land differently to a vendor's.

Lead on AI, personally

The incumbent Chief People Officer leads AI internally; both the technology itself, and the ways of working that are actively being shaped across that. You'll set governance across multiple functions, that enables rather than blocks, and drive genuine adoption and behaviour change across a company with strong AI curiosity.

Influence the product

You'll be leading our internal efforts as Customer Zero: where we are our own first and (sometimes toughest) customer. You'll run Culture Amp on Culture Amp and give R&D feedback that's worth their time.

We're looking for:
