Core Responsibilities

  • Provide infrastructure services in line with SLAs, resolving incidents and requests promptly.
  • Deploy, maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot servers, networks, telephony, and related hardware/software.
  • Ensure infrastructure meets NHS security standards, DSPT Toolkit requirements, and Cyber Security guidelines.
  • Contribute to technical projects and assist with upgrades, patching, and improvements.
  • Use proactive alerting tools to minimize downtime and maintain performance standards.
  • Possess specialist knowledge in Server/Storage and generalist knowledge across other infrastructure domains (Telecoms, Networking, or Architecture)

Additional Duties

  • Flexible working hours (8 am-6 pm coverage) and participation in on-call rota.
  • Manage team cover and collaborate with internal/external stakeholders.
  • Perform any other duties as reasonably required by the line manager.

Main duties of the job

  • Deliver infrastructure services in line with SLAs.
  • Manage and maintain infrastructure systems for maximum availability, including redundancy and documentation.
  • Ensure systems, procedures, and documentation are accurate and regularly updated.
  • Configure, upgrade, patch, and troubleshoot servers, storage and security systems.
  • Monitor system performance, capacity, and connectivity, report findings to senior management.
  • Implement and maintain data backup strategies.
  • Enforce security compliance and respond to NHS Digital CareCERT.
  • Test changes before live deployment and follow Change Board process.
  • Identify and manage risks; maintain asset registers and capacity management processes.
  • Provide training and mentorship across teams.
  • Explore emerging technologies to enhance patient care.
  • Liaise with 3rd party suppliers and external stakeholders.
