You'll work with partners, Product, and Research and Development (R&D) to turn partner and customer needs into integrations, influence product design, and build the business case for each joint effort, from the first architecture review to a shipped integration.

In this role, you will also own the AI model evaluation process with our model partners, working closely with our R&D teams to assess new models ahead of release and ensure GitLab is built on the best-performing models for our customers.

Responsibilities

Own the end-to-end technical strategy for assigned strategic partners, connecting technical requirements with joint business objectives.

Resolve complex technical issues across GitLab and partner systems, including cloud architecture, tool integrations, and AI model and agent evaluation and integration.

Manage the end-to-end AI model evaluation process with our model partners, coordinating with R&D to secure early access, align on evaluation criteria and timelines, and translate results into partnership and product roadmap decisions.

Design and facilitate partner workshops, architecture reviews, and cloud financial management (FinOps) sessions, bringing in the right participants and documenting outcomes and next steps.

Build business cases for joint technical efforts, defining expected gains, costs, and resources, and securing agreement from partner managers, R&D, and leadership.

Bring partner requirements and technical feedback into Product and R&D discussions to influence product design and the roadmap.

Coordinate Engineering, Product, FinOps, Finance, Sales, and Marketing with partner technical teams to move joint work from evaluation to delivery.

Track cloud, AI, and DevSecOps developments to advise partnership investment, and share reusable findings through documentation, the handbook, reference architectures, and technical content.

Requirements

Experience as a Senior Solutions Architect, Partner Solutions Architect, Partner Engineer, or in a similar senior technical role.

An end-to-end understanding of the software development lifecycle, continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD), and DevSecOps, with the ability to use GitLab in depth.

Hands-on cloud architecture experience with at least one hyperscaler: Google Cloud, Amazon Web Services (AWS), or Microsoft Azure.

Working knowledge of AI model evaluation frameworks and agent technology, including large language model (LLM) application programming interfaces (APIs), agent frameworks, and Model Context Protocol (MCP).

Experience designing and facilitating technical workshops with senior technical and business stakeholders, and building business cases.

Autonomous, ownership-driven approach.

Clear, concise written and spoken communication.

Responsibilities

Define and communicate the Test & Code Coverage product vision, strategy, and outcome-focused roadmap, from discovery through a minimum viable product, beta, launch, and continued iteration.

Identify customer problems across pipeline failure diagnosis, test automation, test optimisation, code coverage, and recovery. Build the case for investment, prioritise foundational and customer-facing work, and reshape or stop initiatives that aren't creating value.

Technical fluency in one or more relevant areas, such as software testing, test automation, code coverage, continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD), developer tools, DevOps, developer experience, quality engineering, or software delivery.

An understanding of how engineering teams build, test, review, and ship software, and the ability to work with engineers on test architecture, pipeline behaviour, code changes, data, integrations, reliability, and scale.

Experience diagnosing technical problems and turning complex, noisy signals into clear user experiences and actionable workflows.

Experience exploring AI or agent-driven solutions for developer workflows, with the judgment to distinguish useful automation from unsafe or low-confidence actions.

Experience using customer conversations to understand problems and inform product decisions, communicating clearly in writing and conversation, and influencing across functions with shared ownership.

Fullstack Engineer (TypeScript), AI Engineering: Duo Client SDK

GitLab is seeking a Fullstack Engineer to join the Duo Client SDK team. As a Fullstack Engineer on the Duo Client SDK team at GitLab, you'll build the shared foundation for every GitLab Duo client.

Today, the logic that powers Duo in editors lives inside the GitLab Language Server. We're extracting it into a true software development kit (SDK): a set of well-versioned TypeScript packages that editor extensions, our web-based Duo Chat on GitLab.com, and eventually external applications can use.

You'll work in TypeScript across frontend and backend systems. You'll design the SDK's Node.js core and public application programming interface (API), and work in the clients that use it. The work rewards care about interfaces, versioning, and backward compatibility as much as features because other engineers will depend on what you build.

Some examples of our projects:

The Duo Client SDK, extracting versioned, publishable packages from the GitLab Language Server

The GitLab Language Server, rebuilt on top of the SDK as our polyglot surface

Duo Chat on the web, as one of the SDK's first consumers

Responsibilities:

Develop secure, well-tested, and performant TypeScript features that solve technical problems of moderate scope and complexity.

Ship small features and improvements with minimal guidance, writing tests with every merge request and contributing to code reviews and design discussions.

Extract and publish TypeScript packages from the GitLab Language Server, migrating consumers incrementally so no parallel implementation is left to drift.

Design durable public APIs with clear interfaces, semantic versioning, changelogs, and deprecation paths for external consumers.

Build isomorphic core packages that isolate platform-specific behavior in adapters at the edges.

Build and improve SDK client surfaces, including Vue 3 components in Duo Chat on the web, in collaboration with product, design, and engineering teams.

Strengthen credential handling across hosts, including bearer tokens, session cookies, and CSRF protection.

Optimize bundle size, startup cost, and dependency weight for browser consumers, and support a Tier 2 on-call rotation for urgent engineering issues.

Requirements:

Strong proficiency with TypeScript across frontend and backend systems, including experience building and maintaining Node.js services.

Experience with modern build and packaging tools, including monorepos, multi-module builds, ECMAScript modules (ESM), and dependency management.

Experience with Vue 3 and the Composition API, or comparable component-based frontend experience and a willingness to learn Vue.

Experience designing APIs that other people use, with the ability to explain what you'd do differently.

Understanding of the differences between running code in Node.js and in the browser, and how to write code that works in both.

A security-minded development approach, including careful credential handling and performance optimization.

Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in writing about technical problems, propose iterative solutions, and work effectively in an agile environment.

Self-motivation, strong organizational skills, and the judgment to ask for help when needed while thriving in a fully remote organization aligned with GitLab's values.

Benefits:

Benefits to support your health, finances, and well-being

Flexible Paid Time Off

Team Member Resource Groups

Equity Compensation & Employee Stock Purchase Plan

Senior Backend Engineer, Platform Readiness

GitLab is the intelligent orchestration platform for DevSecOps. GitLab enables organisations to increase developer productivity, improve operational efficiency, reduce security and compliance risk, and accelerate digital transformation.

As a Senior Backend Engineer in GitLab's Platform Enablement organisation, you will help make GitLab easier to deploy, validate, and operate across environments. This team is centred on two major areas: Cloud Native deployment guidance and ephemeral environments.

Current projects

Deployment Environments is currently focused on:

Evolving GitLab's self-managed deployment guidance beyond legacy Reference Architectures into a clear Cloud Native model.

Improving production-like ephemeral environments for earlier, higher-confidence validation.

Supporting a platform model where services declare requirements, operators satisfy them, and shared artifacts work across GitLab.com, Dedicated, and Self-Managed.

Ability to think creatively about how AI changes the software development lifecycle and how product experiences should adapt.

Strong collaboration and communication skills, especially in an all-remote, asynchronous environment.

A bias toward action and the ability to help teams ship meaningful customer value quickly.
