Responsibilities:

• Perform specimen collection using various techniques such as venipuncture, capillary puncture, PIVO, and throat swab collections.
• Safely travel to contracted facilities and/or patient homes to perform collections.
• Adhere to personal protective requirements in inpatient and/or outpatient settings.
• Communicate procedures and instructions with patients and family members and demonstrate empathy during every interaction.
• Maintain accurate patient logs, monitor patient scheduling systems, and perform patient and client registrations.
• Accurately and timely keep records, including patient records and mileage for reimbursement.
• Train and mentor new staff, participate in specimen processing, quality assurance processes, waived testing, technical writing, downtime planning, continuous improvement projects, and other laboratory responsibilities as required.
• Ability to take on-call shifts and participate in holiday rotations.
• Perform advanced collection and troubleshooting techniques.

Requirements:

• BLS Required
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Current driver's license, insured and reliable transportation, and an acceptable driving record
• One year of Intermountain Laboratory Services phlebotomy experience, phlebotomy training or certification as approved by manager/supervisor, Preferred

Physical Requirements:

• Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.
• Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information.
• Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy.
• Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients.
• Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment.
