As an Ophthalmic Technician, you will play a crucial role in providing high-quality patient care and supporting our ophthalmologists.</p>\n<p><strong>Job Summary:</strong> You will perform preliminary examinations and evaluations of patients with ocular complaints, disease, or disorders by initiating and executing technical tests utilised exclusively in ophthalmology. You will provide information to and consult with ophthalmologists.</p>\n<p><strong>Essential Job Duties:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Room patients and take patient histories, including HPI with ≥4 components</li>\n<li>Perform eye tests under Ophthalmology Quality Standards of Care, including vision screenings, manual refractions, and various diagnostic tests</li>\n<li>Facilitate the workflow of patients when assigned various clinical/technician roles</li>\n<li>Anticipate the flow of patient traffic and help other technicians perform various patient diagnostic testing</li>\n<li>Facilitate prior authorisation</li>\n<li>Perform highly accurate manual refractions within a timely manner</li>\n<li>Maintain proficiency in glaucoma testing, visual fields, fundus photos, refracting, and topography</li>\n<li>Ensure accuracy and attention to detail while keeping ahead of patient flow and remaining flexible</li>\n<li>Function as the patient advocate by teaching and directing patients and clarifying ophthalmologist instructions per department protocol</li>\n<li>Practice and maintain awareness of all safety precautions as outlined by OSHA and the CDC</li>\n<li>Maintain supplies and equipment for department function, including inventory control</li>\n<li>Actively participate in quality improvement initiatives, including CQI, TQM, Lean, and 100% participation</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Minimum Qualifications:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for healthcare providers</li>\n<li>One year of experience as an ophthalmic technician, ophthalmic assistant, or optometric technician</li>\n<li>Experience in cataract surgery counselling for patients considering cataract surgery</li>\n<li>EMR experience</li>\n<li>Possess a level of computer literacy that ensures accuracy and timeliness when working with patients</li>\n<li>Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills</li>\n<li>Works well with coworkers and patients</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Preferred Qualifications:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Certification as a COA (Certified Ophthalmic Assistant)</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Benefits:</strong> We offer a generous benefits package that covers a wide range of programs to foster a sustainable culture of wellness that encompasses living healthy, happy, secure, connected, and engaged.
